With the season more than half done for most teams, we thought it would be interesting to take a look back at some of the top performances of the year so far. Trevor Baptiste got such a large amount of press for his hat trick against Villanova, that we wanted to see where his performance really ranked. I will be honest in saying that I was more than a bit surprised at the results. |
For a bit of background, in order to rank single game performances, we needed a way to condense box score stats into a single number for each player. In order to do this, we relied on our expected goal values methodology, which assigns a goal value to each type of play depending on how often it leads to a goal in the next 60 seconds. By adding up all the expected goals added for each player, we can get to that single number and these rankings. |

You appear to have forgotten to include Jeff Teat’s 5 goals (on 7 shots), six assists, 11 points, and 1 ground ball, against Virginia.

You are absolutely right. Thanks for catching that. Had a slight issue with doling out credit for assisted goals, but it’s fixed now. With the change, Teat shows up at #14 for his game against UVA.
